Hello everyone, i just installed a new PSU and GPU. I think i hooked everything up fine, then my PC got shut down twice, i thought it was the CPU overheating. I connected the fan in more tightly, that may have been the problem. However, my CPU is having a hard time running basic programs. As Im typing this, my CPU percentage is fluctuating between as low as 10% and as high as 30% or even 60% at times!! Im pretty sure i have no viruses, infact, this issue didnt start happening until i installed the new parts. Is it overheating? BIOS upon bootup says my temps are like 37degrees celsius. Anyone have ideas?

Anytime I am connected to wireless internet it periodically stops functioning as if I am no longer connected. I have a Dell Latitude Laptop using Windows XP. I took it to Geek Squad because it was skipping and the freezing up when I played DVDs or any kind of audio. When it freezes I have to turn it off witut shutting it down. It also wouldn’t freeze right away..it freezes into about 10 minutes of playing DVDs or youtube videos. It was also making weird noises when it froze. Best Buy informed me that the noise wasn’t any hardware issue, but the kind of noise the computer makes when it’s frozen. They said nothing was wrong hardware wise, and that I had 6 viruses on the laptop. Well now, all those viruses are removed, and my laptop is still skipping and freezing when I play DVDs..to the point where I have to turn off the computer without shutting it down. If it’s not viruses, and geek squad said everything is fine with the computer physically, then what is it? 1 second ago
I’ve had my laptop a little over 3 years and it’s been slowing down over the years. For example, it takes a couple minutes to open Mozilla Firefox. I know it has to do with all of the junk on my hard drive, but I don’t know how to go about cleaning it out. Should I completely wipe out my computer and start anew? If so, - will I have to re-order/ pay for programs such as Norton Antivirus? - will I need to install another copy of Microsoft Office/ buy a new version? o.k. this thing called security tool kept popping up and telling me all these viruses I had on the computer. Recently my computer has been popping up blue stop screens, it has something to do with thekernell memory dump or something, so I copied all my files onto my flash drive and now the flash drives has a file on it that is saved as “BOOTEX”. When I open the file it says “Checking file system on E: The type of the file system is FAT. The volume is dirty.” What does this mean? Hello everyone, i just installed a new PSU and GPU. I think i hooked everything up fine, then my PC got shut down twice, i thought it was the CPU overheating. I connected the fan in more tightly, that may have been the problem. However, my CPU is having a hard time running basic programs. As Im typing this, my CPU percentage is fluctuating between as low as 10% and as high as 30% or even 60% at times!! Im pretty sure i have no viruses, infact, this issue didnt start happening until i installed the new parts. Is it overheating? BIOS upon bootup says my temps are like 37degrees celsius. Anyone have ideas?

Anytime I am connected to wireless internet it periodically stops functioning as if I am no longer connected. However, the computer shows that it is still connected, and people around me are having no problems at all. This usually happens four or five times in a two hour period. I try reconnecting, but it only lasts maybe ten minutes. My computer is regularly scanned for viruses.

I have a Dell Latitude Laptop using Windows XP. I took it to Geek Squad because it was skipping and the freezing up when I played DVDs or any kind of audio. When it freezes I have to turn it off witut shutting it down. It also wouldn’t freeze right away..it freezes into about 10 minutes of playing DVDs or youtube videos. It was also making weird noises when it froze. Best Buy informed me that the noise wasn’t any hardware issue, but the kind of noise the computer makes when it’s frozen. They said nothing was wrong hardware wise, and that I had 6 viruses on the laptop. Well now, all those viruses are removed, and my laptop is still skipping and freezing when I play DVDs..to the point where I have to turn off the computer without shutting it down. If it’s not viruses, and geek squad said everything is fine with the computer physically, then what is it? 1 second ago

I’ve had my laptop a little over 3 years and it’s been slowing down over the years. For example, it takes a couple minutes to open Mozilla Firefox. I know it has to do with all of the junk on my hard drive, but I don’t know how to go about cleaning it out. Should I completely wipe out my computer and start anew? If so, - will I have to re-order/ pay for programs such as Norton Antivirus? - will I need to install another copy of Microsoft Office/ buy a new version? o.k. this thing called security tool kept popping up and telling me all these viruses I had on the computer. Well now it completely blanked out my screen making it the only thing visible and everytime I try presing Ctrl + Alt + Delete to go to my task manager it blocks it off with a virus pop up!!! Recently my computer has been popping up blue stop screens, it has something to do with thekernell memory dump or something, so I copied all my files onto my flash drive and now the flash drives has a file on it that is saved as “BOOTEX”. When I open the file it says “Checking file system on E: The type of the file system is FAT. The volume is dirty.” What does this mean?
